Town of Woodbridge: How to Build a Diverse Library
“How to Build a Diverse Family Library” is the second in a series of outreach initiatives dedicated to the topics of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration organized by the Woodbridge ad-hoc Community Council.

Panelists will share books geared to children in grades K-5. This adult event is free to attend, however pre-registration is required. Zoom link to follow.

Panelists include representatives from the Woodbridge Library Children’s Department, People Get Ready Bookstore in New Haven, Jack and Jill of America, and the Beecher Road School Library. The event will be moderated by Tahera Parvez, a member of the Beecher Road School Diversity Committee and the ad hoc Community Council.

Each panelist will “show and tell” a small variety of books that feature diversity in cultural backgrounds, family structure, geography, or socio-economic status. There will also be tips and suggestions on how to infuse more equity, social justice and culturally responsive books into home reading nooks. People Get Ready will offer a promotion to purchase books at the bookstore.
